Observing World Kidney Day 2017
Bangladesh Renal Association (BRA), Kidney Foundation, Bangladesh and Kidney Awareness Monitoring & Prevention Society (KAMPS) jointly observed “World Kidney Day 2017” with a discussion meeting titled “World Kidney Day 2017” on 9th March 2017 at Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh, Dhaka followed by joyous & crowded awareness rally from Matsha bhaban to IDEB building with renowned physicians, nurses, staffs, pharmaceutical persons & others.
World Kidney Day 2017– ‘Kidney disease & Obesity- Healthy Lifestyle for Healthy Kidneys’– is themed to highlight the importance of kidney health particularly for obese patients as obesity accounts a lot of burden to society & it is one of the leading cause to produce other diseases like kidney failure, heart diseases etc.
Mr. Akbar Hossain Pathan (Film actor Faruk), Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, President, Bangladesh Medical Association, Dr. Md. Ehteshamul Huq Choudhury, Secretary General, Bangladesh Medical Association and Prof. Dr. Kamrul Hasan Khan, Vice Chancellor, BSMMU were present as special guests while Mr. Mohammed Nasim, MP, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest. The program was presided by Prof. Muhammad Rafiqul Alam, President, Bangladesh Renal Association (BRA). Also Prof. Harun Ur Rashid, President, Kidney Foundation, Prof. M Muhibur Rahman, Vice President, BRA, Prof. M A Samad, President, KAMPS delivered their distinguished speeches. Approximate hundred Nephrologists of different medical colleges, nurses, technicians, pharmaceutical personnel and media personnel were also present at the program.
Besides Dhaka, Nephrology department of Chittagong Medical College, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, Mymensingh Medical College, Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital Khulna also celebrated World Kidney Day through rally & round table discussion.
UniMed Pharma jointly organized the program with the concerned societies. Mr. Md. Akramul Kabir, Group Product Manager, UniMed Pharma was one of the coordinating persons of this event. As a part of CSR activities, UniMed Pharma provided awareness t-shirts & badges for the rally, published poster, decorated the venue to create public awareness on kidney health.
